What is Black Marking?

Black Marking Microweld Laser Technology is an advanced laser marking technology. This technology creates deep black, relief-free, high-contrast and durable markings on a variety of materials. This unique process is perfect for applications requiring high-quality, corrosion-resistant, long-lasting marking. Thanks to FEMTO (black marking) technology, this process is insensitive to any post-treatment and subsequent cleaning.

Laser marking at Microweld

Our technology uses short, precise laser pulses to create nanostructures on different materials such as metal, plastic and composites, and on flat, concave or convex surfaces. These microscopic structures trap photons to create an intense black color and remarkable contrast at any viewing angle.

Impressive visual quality: The marking is visually homogeneous from different viewing angles, thanks to the regular nano-structures created by the laser.

Tinting possible from white to black, through all levels of gray, depending on the material: By fine-tuning and mastering these “laser machinings”, you can obtain a whole panoply of gradients from black to white, from matte to glossy, to produce alphanumeric text as well as DMC (Data Matrix Code), UDI (Unique Device Identification) and QRcode codes.

Diversified applications

Our marking solutions are suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. They are particularly well suited to medical devices requiring UDI (Unique Device Identification) marking in compliance with European and FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulations. Marking is durably legible, resisting a large number of cleaning cycles.

Advanced Surface Texturing

Thanks to optimal settings, our Black Marking technique can be used to texturize surfaces locally. This surface structuring and texturing technique enables us to achieve osseointegration. It also eliminates reflections that are detrimental to navigation.
